Our hostel does not have a 24h reception. Our normal check-in time is from 5 pm to 9 pm. If you look like you can’t make these times, please contact us at info@mountainhosteltarter.com and we will try to organise an alternative.

Check-out is until 11 am. If you need to store your suitcase or luggage during the day, of course, we are able to help. If in addition to luggage storage, if you need to use our groundfloor services such as the kitchen, showers, tea/coffee and Wi-Fi you can take advantage of our LATE CHECK-OUT. For € 10 you can use all these.

Whilst we will, of course, be thinking of you, but our reception is open only at 8.30 am to 11.30 am, and from 5 pm to 9 pm. However you can reach us via our phone number, 24 hours a day, just in case.

If you book via our website, at the time of booking you will be paying our online price of your first night of your stay. The rest of the reservation is paid directly at the hostel when you check-in. If you book via other websites, the payment policy may vary. However, any pending balance of your reservation can be paid directly at the hostel at the time of check-in.

You can pay in Cash (we only accept euros, €) or with card; we accept VISA, VISA ELECTRON or MASTERCARD.

We can only cancel reservations made directly through us or via our website. If you have made your reservation through a 3rd party agency or platform, please contact them directly for their respective individual cancellation policies. When you make a reservation directly through us or via our website, our cancellation policy is displayed with the confirmation of your booking/reservation.

You can usually cancel without cost up to 3 days before the arrival date. However, we do impose some dates with different conditions depending of the dates of your stay. Don’t worry, all cancellation terms are explained the time of your reservation, even if you are in a special event period it will be detailed on your booking confirmation.

The cost of cancellation outside the free cancelation period is 100% of the reservation cost.

Each bed has a locker/drawer in each room for personal use, and hope that you will use it. These are numbered the same as your bed. But do not use the locker/drawer of another guest, please. For security of your belongings, this drawer must be locked with a padlock. We do not provide padlocks and recommend bringing one yourself. If you do not have a lock, you can, of course, buy one at the hostel at arrival for € 3. You buy the lock, you take it and then it’s yours to keep for your next stay.

There’s a parking area in front of the hostel, it’s a public parking but it’s paid. During the winter season, this parking is free from 8am to 8pm if you have any Grandvalira lift pass. And overnight (from 8pm to 8am) it costs € 5.
In town there are few parking places on the street, in the blue line, which are free overnight (from 8pm to 9am) and paid during the day (€ 3 from 9am to 8pm, and you don’t need move the car). If you are lucky you can use on of these places, at least over the night when it’s free!

Of course, you can! However, when booking, make sure to make a note in your reservation. During peak season, it can though sometimes be difficult and we cannot always guarantee it. Do not worry though as when we get a reservation for multiple beds we always try to put you in the same room.

All of our shared rooms are mixed, and we cannot guarantee that the shared room will be 100% female. However, we will try to put girls together in the same room when requested.

Every the entire hostel is cleaned from top to bottom. Our cleaning schedule is from 10 am to 2 pm. During this time, we ask you to avoid using the spaces that are being cleaned at this moment, including the rooms. Just one short moment and it’s all done!

Of course, we work towards keeping the hostel as safe as possible. The main door is locked and only opens with a secure keypad code that is provided at check-in. In addition, all bedrooms/dorms have locks and each occupant will have a key. Our staff make regular rounds of all rooms and there are cameras in all entry points to the hostel to guarantee security. Please note that Mountain Hostel Tarter is not responsible for any loss, theft or damage of luggage or belongings while you are staying at the hostel. Please use the locker provided in each bedroom. If you do not have a padlock, you can buy one at our mini-market for € 3.

The outdoor hot tub is open for your enjoyment from 5 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. without interruption. Also in winter, of course! But we need to close it at night for cleaning, maintenance and water treatment.

Of course, you can. You can receive guests at the hostel, but only in the communal areas and from 9 am to 9 pm. We would like to point out that Visitors cannot enter the rooms, also between 9:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. all the spaces of the hostel are reserved exclusively for the hostel guests.

Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the hostel. Outside you will find ashtrays to extinguish the cigarette. Likewise, the possession and use of drugs are strictly prohibited. Should this occur, we are obliged by law to notify the Police.

It is not permitted to take food or drink into the rooms with the exception of water. For food and drink please use our kitchen and dining areas. For the storage of food in the kitchen, you will find baskets and shelves.

We are a mountain hostel, and most of our guests are early risers to make the most of the day. Therefore, we ask for no noise from 11:00 p.m. onwards.

We only accept dogs outside of the winter ski season. During winter is it not possible to bring a dog to the hostel. Outside of this period we allow dogs upon request and prior authorization for a supplement of 6€ You must note the following before bringing your dog:

  • You must reserve an entire room. Dogs cannot sleep in shared rooms with other guests.
  • Dogs should also be kept under control at all times, they are not allowed loose in any common area.
  • The dog must be educated to live in a house, without damaging the furniture and to relieve himself outside.

There is no age restriction to stay at the hostel. Everyone is welcome when everyone gets along with everyone else.

You will find all the basic produce you need to prepare a meal. We have bread, butter, jams, milk, juice, pasta, sauces, fresh drinks, beer, wine, meat, fresh fruit and of course bathroom and hygiene products; toothpaste, soap, shampoo. Don’t forget we have fresh bread and croissants to order.

The hostel market is open always when the reception is open. So it is open at 8.30h to 11.30h and from 17h to 21h.

The hostel kitchen is free to use and comes fully equipped with everything you may need. Each guest must collect and clean everything they use and then dry them and put them back in the correct place. Please note that from 11 pm to 7 am cooking is not allowed; please respect everyone’s rest.

In the hostel, you may use our washer dryer. One 4kg load costs €6 for a wash and dry. If you only want wash and hang your laundry open-air, it costs €3. If you require this service please ask at reception.

Towels are not included in the cost of your stay. You may, of course, bring your own or rent one. Each towel costs 2€ to rent for the duration of your stay. Rent your towel at the reception!

The hostel has free wi-fi connection throughout the hostel including the rooms. We will give you the code at reception, and there is no limit to the number of devices per user.

To get to El Tarter from Andorra la Vella, there’s the regular bus L4. This bus is in operation all year. The bus runs between Andorra La Vella and Pas a la Casa. The beginning and end of the line is the same NATIONAL BUS STATION, from where all long-distance buses depart and arrive. You must ask the driver for the EL TARTER stop. The frequency is between 30 and 45 minutes depending on the time of day, and the day of the week. Note that the last bus from Andorra La Vella at 9.15pm.
